Komodo National Park is a vast and diverse marine environment. To understand its diving, it’s best to break it down into three distinct regions, each with its own unique character, water conditions, and marine life.
- North Komodo: The region of adrenaline. Exposed to the open sea, it’s defined by offshore seamounts, powerful currents, clear water, and big pelagic action. This is where you find the park’s most challenging and action-packed dives.
- Central Komodo: The classic crossroads. This region offers a perfect balance of everything Komodo is famous for: strong currents, calm bays, manta ray encounters, and reefs with mind-blowing fish density. It is the most accessible region.
- South Komodo: The wild, nutrient-rich frontier. Influenced by the cold Indian Ocean, this region is a world of its own, famed for its unique macro life, vibrant soft corals, and dramatic, rugged topography.
